History

The Confederation Mondiale des Sport de Boules (C.M.S.B.) is founded to Monaco on December 21, 1985, and it is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (C.I.O.) on October 15, 1986, to Lausanne.

The founding International Federations were the Federation International de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal (F.I.P.J.P.), the Fédération International de Boules (F.I.B., lyonnaise bowl) and the Confederazione Boccistica Internazionale (C.B.I., Rafle).

The first president was the Italian Luigi Sambuelli. World Bowl joins it on September 2, 2003. C.M.S.B. has now 106 Country members. It is presided by Romolo Rizzoli who took the helm on December 18th 2006. It, thanks to its four specialities, enters to the World Games, to the Jeux Méditerranéens, to the Jeux du Commonwealth, to the Jeux des Petits Etats d’Europe and to the S.E.A. Games.

C.M.S.B. is member of the Association Générale des Fédérations Internationales de Sports (A.G.F.I.S.), of the Association Internationale de World Games (I.W.G.A.) and of the Association des Federations Internationales de Sports Reconnues (A.R.I.S.F.).
 
C.M.S.B. organizes, through by the international Federations associated, the following world championship:
  • C.B.I. – Under 21 men’s single, women’s and men’s team senior, women’s and men’s single, club world (all every 4 years);
  • F.I.B. – world championship men’s under 18 every year and world senior championship men’s and women’s every 2 years;
  • W.B. – Under 18-25 men’s and women’s single every year, women’s and men’s senior every 4 year;
  • F.I.P.J.P. – Under 17 men’s every 2 years, men’s senior every year and women’s every 2 years.
C.M.S.B. takes part, with Rafle, Lyonnaise and Pétanque specialities to the World Games, Jeux Méditerranéens and Jeux des Petits Etats, and with the Lawn Bowls speciality to the Commonwealth Games every 4 years.
